Raccoon Mario is first introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3, where Mario or Luigi go into this form by obtaining a Super Leaf. When he is in this form, he can use the tail attack to defeat enemies or hit blocks from the side, use his tail to slowly float down, and fly briefly if he fills the Power Meter by running beforehand. A P-Wing will also transform Mario into Raccoon Mario, but the Power Meter stays filled. The benefit of a P-Wing is lost once Mario takes damage, transforms into another upgraded form over Super Mario (except Tanooki Mario), or clears a level.
