Super Paper Mario[edit]
Support[edit]
- Paper Plumm (talk) Is it fully detailed? Yes, yes it is! It features a thorough run through of the story and fully stocked item lists and bestiaries, with not nary a missing photo in sight! It features references to the past games as well as future references, AND a highly comprehensive comparison of its elements to previous games. It features a solid opening and is very well written, no red links and a vast library of photos. I see no reason why we can't welcome back Super!
Oppose[edit]
- Xiahou Ba, The Nasty Warrior (talk) Scanned the article and I already detected some problems. First, the intro mentions "Super Paper Mario is a platformer game. It isn't an RPG, but a platformer..." which should be altered. The intro goes into visual aesthetics but I think should also discuss how the soundtrack complements it. Headers should not be linked, the story section needs to be reformatted to fix this. The story at points may need a rewrite as it immediately has flowery formatting in the second sentence (italicizing "preparing"). I can't revise the story section all that much having not played the game, but here you go. The paragraph of the Gameplay section remains skeletal, being only a single paragraph long, as well as some colloquial language (using "ditching" gameplay element instead of something like "foregoes"). Why is there a "See also" list of unnamed NPCs linked under playable characters, they aren't even playable...?? The sentence, "There are thirteen in total, four of which are optional. However, only twelve can be carried, since Tiptron is only available after Tippi disappears." is confusing wording based on some technicality that Tiptron serves purely as a replacement Pixl. "List of shops in Super Paper Mario" is awkwardly listed twice in this article, once under the items section and another in its own dedicated Shops section. Organization in general is a mess, with the Audience section somehow parked all the way at the end of the Gameplay section right after having sections dedicated to items while having a more of a consistent presence throughout the game than a random list of objects and items. Bosses are then just listed, right after any list of any of the common enemies, while Obstacles are also awkwardly listed right after bosses, having a more common appearance than them. The Sidequests section has a lack of images and needs them, plus possibly an expansion on the summary of the Pit of 100 Trials as the description of it as is is a little too bare. BTW Piccolo doesn't even need to be mentioned here, because he's already mentioned earlier in the Pixl section). Similarities between Paper Mario games can also use images and may use a rewrite and a reorganization so the list doesn't appear a hodgepodge of random elements: referencing and having several recurring characters from the past titles isn't considered a "similarity". Again, the bestiary is way too far down the article, it should be similar to how platforming games handle their bestiaries in terms of organization, as well as other aspects such as Reception, Development, Glitches, we should maintain consistency between articles. Plus I think the reception section should be expanded on, and I don't think interests in making a movie should be buried in the Reception section. Regional Differences can use images as well as Pre-Release and Unused content. Anyway, I still think this article has quite a bit of issues that should be looked at, mostly organizational and formatting, but there's also some expansion here and there, especially the Gameplay section.
- Camwoodstock (talk) In addition to what Xiahou Ba said about more specific aspects of the page (which, frankly, is far more comprehensive than we could ever be), the page has many maintenance categories running about. There's unsourced dates, unsourced ratings, unsourced foreign names, dead external links without any attempt to replace them... These would all need to be taken care of before we'd consider supporting the nomination.
