The Hokaku Barrier is a machine Baby Bowser uses in the last chapter of Super Mario: Yoshi Island 3 of the Super Mario Kodansha manga.
After kidnapping Baby Peach, Baby Bowser challenges the Yossy Helper Team to rescue her by giving away the location of his base. The entire reascue squad, except from Baby Mario and Poochy, go to the location and fall victim to the Hokaku Barrier: a projector machine that traps everyone in an electric light beam. A couple of minutes later, when the last two remaining members of the squad get into action, the machine overloads and explodes, causing a fire that traps Baby Peach, Baby Bowser, and Kamek (too scared to remember he can teleport away) inside the cardboard base, and releasing the Yossy Helper Team.
