Establishing some guidelines for the images in the year articles[edit]
canceled by proposer
Better ideas to fix the problem were given in the comments.
Less than a week ago, a proposal for the creation of year articles has passed. All of the year articles that has been created as of now has one or several images showing video games and systems that were released the corresponding year. I was the one proposed this idea, as seen on my draft page, as it allows to illustrates the most important events that has happened in the year and makes the articles look less "empty".
However, some of the articles use more than 2 images, which takes a lot of places, as seen here and here for examples. While this can be fixed by shrinking the images, it makes them hard to see as a result. Therefore, I believe that there should a limit for the number of images used on these articles.
I also personally have an issue with using video game systems for the images, as while they are important to the history of the franchise, there are not inherently linked to it and could take the "spot" of well-known Super Mario games.

- Brett (talk) I believe this should the maximum number of images used for each articles, as otherwise you need to considerably shrink them in order to not take too much place in the article.

Comments (Image guidelines)[edit]
Rather than using the {{multiple image}} template to pack multiple images into the article's introduction, we can use at most a single image in the introduction and provide any auxiliary images in sections when needed. B700465189a9 (talk) 15:53, July 11, 2026 (UTC)
We'd frankly rather just intersperse these images throughout the page itself, rather than cram them all into the start. Incidentally, we've been considering the possibility of either introducing an infobox, or a navigational index thingamabob like what some galleries (like Gallery:Mario) have... Neither of these would be images!

- (Proposal has been canceled, I'm aware). The current design of these pages don't really necessitate much formatting, and most pages can use, at most, one image, if needed at all. I do agree a navigation template at the bottom will help, and we'll likely need that, however.

- There's already a navigation template for the year articles, unless you meant something else. Brett (talk) 19:12, July 11, 2026 (UTC)
