Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad or Blue Toad use it when he has a Mini Mushroom, and is able to fall slower than usual. The brothers and Toads can use it to reach areas not accessible with a normal Jump. In Super Mario World, Mario and Luigi can use the cape to slowly descend from a fall. Luigi also uses the weaker type of Floaty Jump, called the Scuttle, which is a bit lower and only makes his descent from a Jump slower than normal. Luigi uses it again in Super Mario 64 DS after a normal or Double-Jump. It is very similar to Yoshi's Flutter Jump.

Princess Peach
Peach can use her umbrella to do the Floaty Jump, as shown in Super Paper Mario.

The Floaty Jump is a move used only by six characters: Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, Cosmic Wario, and Princess Peach. This move is used differently by each character.

It was first (and mainly) used by Peach. Peach can Jump and hold the Jump button during a Jump to temporarily float a short horizontal distance in Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario 3D World, and Super Smash Bros.for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U. In later games, such as Super Princess Peach, she can use an umbrella to float. She also uses her umbrella as her up special in the Super Smash Bros. series.

Cosmic Wario can use this move in Wario: Master of Disguise, but normal Wario can't.
