Profiles and statistics (Yoshi)

Yoshi's bios typically describe him as Mario's best friend and ally, as well as mentioning his big appetite for fruits and enemies. Yoshi, in most Mario sports games, is classed as an Acceleration type character. He has also been classed as a Speed type character in some games, like the Mario Tennis series or the Mario Baseball series. Like Mario, Yoshi has occasionally been classified as a balanced character, like in Super Mario Strikers and Mario Strikers Charged, where he appears as a balanced captain. In Mario Strikers: Battle League, he appears as an offensive type character with high Shooting and Passing attributes. In the Mario Kart series, Yoshi is classified as either a lightweight or a middleweight character.

Yoshi's most often associated color scheme is green, although he has been occasionally associated with orange, yellow, or blue. His logo is a green Yoshi's Egg.

NSMBW (Yoshi)

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

According to unused in-game data, Yoshi cannot be used while underwater, as the player automatically dismounts him if they fall into the water. Yoshi also can't make Jumbo Rays chirp, can't sink floating barrels, doesn't have a proper animation for entering horizontal Warp Pipes, cannot hit Flying ? Blocks for items, and cannot use Bouncy Clouds properly; most of these issues are resolved with the Green Yoshis in New Super Mario Bros. U.

A Yoshi doll, also spelled Yoshi Doll in the Game Boy version, is a Yoshi toy that appears in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, it can be found as one of the prizes for winning the Trendy Game in Mabe Village; the doll is required for the game's trading sequence. In the original game, the text that appears upon acquiring it reads, "Recently, he seems to be showing up in many games!" while in the Nintendo Switch remake (released 26 years later), it instead reads, "You can't count how many games you've seen him in now!"

Cloud Lifts, also simply called clouds, are a type of Semisolid Platform that first appears in Super Mario Bros. 3. They are movable platforms in most games, except in Yoshi's Story, where they are stationary.

History

Super Mario series

Super Mario Bros. 3

In Super Mario Bros. 3, Cloud Lifts only appear in World 6-2. There, they move to the left and are the main mode of transportation in that level.

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

In Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, several clouds appear in the final level of the Tree Zone, Final Boss: The Big Bird. These lifts have blinking eyes and simply move back and forth.

New Super Mario Bros. U

In New Super Mario Bros. U, Cloud Lifts are long platforms that move to the right when initially landed on. Several of them appear in Land of Flying Blocks. They do not appear in New Super Luigi U.

Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

In Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, they are usually still, though some move horizontally or vertically. Some Cloud Lifts are invisible and can be seen only by ground-pounding near them or shaking the Wii U GamePad.

Super Mario Maker 2

Cloud Lifts reappear in Super Mario Maker 2, where they can be used exclusively in the Super Mario 3D World game style. They replace Lifts and Flimsy Lifts from the other game styles. Like Lifts and Flimsy Lifts, their length can be changed. They can move vertically or horizontally in all four cardinal directions.

Yoshi's Story

In Yoshi's Story, Cloud Lifts are stationary platforms that come in large, medium, and small sizes. They are common floating objects in outdoor levels.
