Krunch, surprisingly an ally of Diddy Kong.

Krunch is a Kritter and member of the Kremling Krew, he is also surprisingly a friend of Diddy Kong.

Krunch's first appearance is in the game Diddy Kong Racing. Here Krunch is sent by King K. Rool to investigate why Diddy Kong and several of his friends are at Timber's Island and to see if they are hatching some sort of anti-Kremling plot. Instead of antagonizing Diddy and his friends though Krunch ends up aiding them in their battle against the evil alien hog, Wizpig. Krunch has the worst acceleration and handling in the game, but has a very high top speed, making him the 3rd fastest racer.

Krunch was going to appear in the now cancelled sequel to Diddy Kong Racing, Diddy Kong Pilot.

Krunch may also have been set to make a reappearance in the cancelled game Donkey Kong Racing; as Taj the Genie, a character from Diddy Kong Racing was going to appear in it.

Krunch will finally make a reappearance in the upcoming game Diddy Kong Racing DS. He sounds more like a bully in this game.

Trivia

  • Interestingly the Kritters of Donkey Kong 64 wear the same skull-and-crossbones leather jacket as Krunch. This led some people to believe that one of the Kritters in Donkey Kong 64 was Krunch.
  • Strangely, Krunch speaks in a hissing-like noise in the cut-scene of Diddy Kong Racing DS (it can't be heard though), but when selected, he doesn't hiss at all.
