To put it simply, if the subject doesn't have a definite name in English but does in Japanese, then we have to go with the latter, as indicated by a template on top of the page. The name can only be changed to English if it ever shows up in any official material. {{User:Swallow/sig}} 19:24, September 6, 2021 (EDT)

Uploads

Hello, Jack Waitzkin. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

[[Category:Super Mario World images]]
or
[[Category:Super Mario World media files]]

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hello, Jack Waitzkin. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must apply the proper license. A full list of licenses can be found in the file copyright tags category, but the following are the most common:

  • {{photo}} - Used for photographs of real-life subjects.
  • {{art}} - Used for artwork of something that is not a character.
  • {{comic-scene}} - Used for scans of a comic.
  • {{comic-cover}} - Used for covers of comic books.
  • {{tv-screenshot}} - Used for screenshots of television shows.
  • {{film-screenshot}} - Used for screenshots of movies.
  • {{video-screenshot}} - Used for other screenshots, such as those from YouTube.

When uploading, select the license from the drop-down box below the summary text box, or add the license manually after uploading or if you're using the upload function from the text editor. For example, artwork of Mario would use {{character-artwork}}.

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Don't include multiple copyright templates; choose the one that you feel best fits the file. If you continue uploading files without applying the correct license, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Please remember to add the necessary categories and licenses, not just a description. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 21:40, September 6, 2021 (EDT)

Also, remember to sign comments on talk pages with four tildes at the end: ~~~~ Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 21:42, September 6, 2021 (EDT)

Please review these reminders. Your files also need to have a descriptive name; don't use the default file name or your file directory name. If you need to rename, don't upload it again; use the "move" tab at the top. I've already renamed the file and cleaned up the summary: File:MVDK NS flying key.jpg. Thanks

And please make sure you use proper grammar and spelling on articles. We don't use the word "you" to refer to the player (instead, use "the player" or the character's name); proper nouns like "Mini-Mario" should be capitalised; and sentences should end with periods. We also don't use "thumb" in tables, just the image width (e.g. "|90px"). Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 22:57, February 24, 2024 (EST)
