Badges are items used in several Mario role-playing games ever since their first appearance in Paper Mario, and have appeared in every RPG since except Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Paper Mario: Color Splash, and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. They are equipped onto the player and they have a variety of uses depending on the game. They may increase stats, provide unusual abilities, or give characters access to new moves.
