Mario and Dr. Mario: Same guy?

Do we know Dr. Mario is just Mario wearing a doctor suit? Maybe we do, just want to make sure. CrystalYoshi

I'm pretty sure... I think this was directly stated in a Nintendo Comics System comic, and then there's the whole thing about Mario and Dr. Mario never showing up at the same time and all of that. Stumpers! 11:45, 3 February 2008 (EST)

That's true. Just seems a bit un-Mario-ish for him to be working as a doctor. But, maybe... CrystalYoshi

Yes, he is the same guy. The following is an excerpt from the Dr. Mario NES manual (p. 3):

Hi everybody! I'm Mario. How's it going? Over the last few years, I've been involved in some pretty wild adventures. Now, believe it or not, I work in the virus research lab at the Mushroom Kingdom Hospital. Today I'm about to begin my research as usual.

No. Dr. Mario, despite being just an alter-ego, has his own large series and even was playable in one game. We even have a Featured Article that is about an alter-ego and stated alter-ego only appeared in one episode of the cartoon! MrConcreteDonkey 21:44, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
