Scarecrow is one of the status effects Mario and his crew can be afflicted with in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Like the Mushroom effect, it causes the one afflicted to become unable to attack normally, the only difference being that the Mushroom status renders the victim unable to do anything other than slowly heal. It is caused by enemy attacks such as S'crow Funk and S'crow Bell. While a Scarecrow, Mario and his party can use magic and defend but not attack physically or use items. Each attack can be blocked if the member who is attacked has a Trueform Pin, Safety Badge, Safety Ring, Super Suit and Lazy Shell.
