Template:Minigame-infobox Hedge Honcho is a 4-player and a duel minigame that is found during the events of Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on the phrase "head honcho", a term referring to the person in charge. This minigame appears in Score Scuffle as minigame number seven.

Introduction

Hedge Honcho as a duel minigame.

In the scene, the minigame sets in rows of hedges the players are in. The player is in the hedges surrounded by rows of leaves, the player throws the leaves out one by one until the player reaches to the start of the first hedge. When the player is done, the player goes deeper and sets on the start of the race. After that, the minigame starts.

Gameplay

In this minigame, the player has to clear the leaves the player sees by using the stylus until the player reaches to the next hedge. The player cannot clear a leaf that is behind the leaf that is facing to the player unless the player clears the front leaf. The players have to go across five hedges in the way to try reaching to the finish line. There are two obstacles will affect the gameplay, they occasionally appear in the hedges.

Ladybugs appear on the leaves during gameplay. The player has to rub on them by using the stylus, if the player rubs the ladybug hard enough; the ladybug will fly away for the player continuing to clear the leaves in the pathway. Bees also appear on the leaves. If the player rubs on the Bee while the player rushes, the player gets stunned by the bee for a moment. When the player is quickly confronted by a bee, he or she has to wait for a moment until the bee flies away so the player can continue to clear the path. Both insects occasionally appear in hedges.

The first player that reaches into the pond wins the minigame. In Score Scuffle, the minigame ends once everyone reaches the pond.

If five minutes pass or if both players reach the pond at the same time in the Duel variant, the minigame will end in a tie.

If both players get the same score in the Duel variant that breaks the current record, it counts as a new record even though no one won, as it will say "Tie" after the "New Record" fanfare. This also applies to the other Duel minigames with a record system.
