Geno, in all his glory.

Geno is one of Mario's partners in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

When Mario arrives at Rose Town, he goes into a Toad named Gaz's house. Gaz is playing with a Mario doll, a King Bowser doll and a Princess Peach doll when Mario enters. Gaz is amazed that THE Mario would come to his house, and asks him to play with him. Mario uses the King Bowser doll, while Gaz uses a doll called Geno. Gaz aims Geno's Star Shot at the King Bowser doll, but it hits Mario instead and he faints.

At night, a star comes down from the sky. It examines the four dolls and then hovers over the Geno doll. It posesses the Geno doll and then walks out of the door into Forest Maze.

In the morning, Gaz tells his mother that Geno walked out of the door. His mother thinks that he is just making up an excuse because he did something bad, but Gaz swears he's telling the truth.

When Mario and Mallow go into the Forest Maze, they find Geno battling a talking bow named Bowyer. Bowyer was shooting arrows at Rose Town to stun people. Mario and Mallow help Geno defeat Bowyer.

After the battle, Geno tells them that he is a star from the Star Roadwho came down to the earth to get the Star Pieces and return wishes back to Mario's world. He tells them his name is ♥♫!?, but he says it's "hard to pronounce", so they just call him Geno, after the doll.

In battle, Geno has the second most powerful attack after King Bowser's. He also has a move called Geno Whirl which does 9999 damage if timed correctly.

Geno was later seen in Mario and Luigi: Super Star Saga, explaining a mini-game to the player. Geno is the name of a doll belonging to Gaz, the Rose Town innkeeper's son in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. A Star agent sent by a higher authority to recover the seven Star Pieces inhabits this doll, and since his true name is rather "hard to pronounce" (as it consists in the game of the various decorative symbols: ♥♪!?), he is called Geno, after the doll. Throughout the game, Geno offers advice to the party, as a mystical sage-type figure. Geno's attacks are part magic and part projectile; his regular attacks shoot various bullets from his arms, and his special attacks tend to involve beams of light shot from a cannon. Of particular note is his "Geno Whirl" attack, which, if properly timed, can produce 9,999 points of damage to enemies, making it the most powerful move in the game. Unfortunately, it does not work on bosses (except Yaridovich clones and Exor). At the end of the game, Geno returns to the repaired Star Road, reverting back his original form.

Geno's abilities:

Geno Beam - Shoots a beam on an enemy. Hold until 3 stars appear for more damage. Geno Boost - Press in end of the up-going arrows to boost defense AND attack. Geno Whirl - If the attack is correctly timed, it will do 9999 damage to all non-boss enemies and Exor. Geno Blast - Lights come from the sky. Hold until 3 stars appear for more damage. Geno Flash - Geno forms himself to a cannon, and shoots a big red light. Hold until 3 stars appears for more damage. The character returns for a cameo appearance in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga as an instructional aid in a casino minigame. Here, the sound of his speech is very robotic.
