As an alternate costume, his attacks and statistics are identical to Olimar's with any and all changes merely being cosmetic. As with other alternative costumes, the game does not acknowledge him as a separate character from Olimar in battle records and miscellaneous aspects, such as Classic Mode. The exception to this is the announcer, crowd, and character selection, all of which say and/or display his own name. He shares this trait with the [[Koopalings]]—the alternate costumes of [[Bowser Jr.]]—who are also named, but not acknowledged as separate characters. In All-Star mode, Alph can also appear in place of Olimar, and in ''Super Smash Bros. for Wii U'', he can be faced as an opponent in rounds 4 and 5 of Classic mode.
