MarioWiki:Patrollers

A Patroller is a user who is given blocking, rollbacking, and patrolling rights.

Patrollers were established on April 15th, 2007 in order to counter vandalism that has been becoming more constant as the Wiki becomes more popular. They can be considered an in-between of users and Sysops and are chosen by Bureaucrats for a) activeness and b) trust. Though on March 26th, 2008, the Patroller rank was phased out — because of lacking powers for Patrollers and redundancy with the Sysop rank — it was returned on January 11th, 2009; the reason for the rank's return was that there are some users that deserve a promotion, but are not quite yet ready to be Sysops.
