In the Legend of Zelda series, heart containers increase Link's HP. In the first game, they were scattered about Hyrule or acquired after defeating a dungeon boss. In Zelda II, they could only be acquired in secret places for a health upgrade. From A Link to the Past onward, heart containers were only acquired after defeating dungeon bosses or by collecting four to five heart pieces (the latter scattered about Hyrule). | |||
