:In my opinion, the items section should be higher up in the article.  Otherwise, it looks great!  Eric42 15:35, 2 January 2007 (EST)

They can be found on the course table. Those without the asterisk means they couldn't be raced online. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 11:42, 9 October 2018 (EDT)

Game crash observations
The game crashes if:
* More than 4 fake item boxes (only reachable using cheats)
* Multiple consecutive lightnings (also requires cheats)

Kart stats in battle mode
After some tests in battle mode using two DSs, I have found the following:
* Most (if not all because I don't have ROB yet) characters have a mini-turbo that lasts roughly half a second.
* Some characters have better acceleration than others.
* They might even have better handling in some cases but I'm not really sure.

I've also noted that there are some 'Unknown karts' in the In-Game Statistics section. I have a feeling they could be the stats used in battle mode because
1. They have 35 frames of mini-turbo (which is roughly half a second)
2. There's 13 of them. Possibly one for every playable character + shy guy.

That being said, I have no idea how to actually confirm this myself, so I was wondering if there's anyone on here who can.

:This would effectively explains what are those karts, that’s very interesting! In the tables of this page the drivers are in the same orders they have in the game data, so these Battle Mode karts will have the same driver order of these tables. Can you please make some additional checks using this information? Weight and Acceleration are the easiest to check (keep in mind the contribution of driver weight), so maybe start with those.—Mister Wu (talk) 06:47, February 10, 2020 (EST)

Beta courses and "Mario Kart Mega" ROM hack
In 2011, a ROM hack called "Mario Kart Mega" was created, which claims to reveal hidden beta courses. Surviving YouTube videos which feature it are "MKDS- deleted courses" from June 2011 and "mario kart mega nds" from June 2012. The latter shows the title screen, which mentions the name of User:Spyrosbiggestfan5678. Just sharing for anyone interested. :We don't cover unofficial hacks, and for future reference talk pages are not the place to share this. 19:53, March 31, 2022 (EDT)
:: I see, though the tracks themselves were allegedly created by Nintendo themselves. They are just hidden. Gordon E. (talk) 19:56, March 31, 2022 (EDT)
:::To be more precise: posting about unused content that is yet to be covered in talk pages is fine, even if it involves links to YouTube videos; however when it comes to unused courses I think we should rather rely on what was covered by The Cutting Room Floor, as it's a more reliable source.--Mister Wu (talk) 04:24, April 1, 2022 (EDT)

Shroom Ridge Reference to Giant Land
I'm pretty sure the hills and trees in the background of DS Shroom Ridge are based on Giant Land from the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3. They may look like Super Mario Bros., but I've checked, and the trees still lean towards SMB3. What do you guys think about it?
