Star Spin is a move that Mario can perform in Super Mario Galaxy. It is done with the Wii Remote when the player shakes the Star Cursor around the screen. The move is slightly like a Spin Jump or Mario Tornado except that it is done on the ground. It can be used to hit objects thrown at Mario to launch them back, activate Star Rings, even pummel enemies and dig up coins.

Mario is able to do a Star Spin due to Tyke, a Luma. Also, whenever Mario does a Star Spin, Tyke pops out of his hat for a second. Interestingly whenever Mario does a Star Spin, all nearby Luma react to it.
