Re: Unsourced names[edit]

howdy! i noticed you added a few unsourced names to various Donkey Kong-related pages. while the contributions are greatly appreciated, i just wanted to notify you that as of August 2024, all foreign names are required to have a citation, even the very obvious ones, just to make sure they're not fake. i recommend you go back through your edit history (here's a link to it) and add sources for them. once again, thank you for your contributions to Super Mario Wiki, and have a great day! — Super Leaf stamp from Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.eviemaybe (talk / contributions) 19:08, December 5, 2025 (EST)

Oh, sorry, it's just that I'm a Spanish speaker and I've played these games in Spanish. Most (if not all) of the foreign names (in Spanish) come directly from the game itself (world map, in-game overworld, etc.). Since it seemed obvious, I didn't see the need to cite sources, or at least I don't know how to do it, since most foreign names on the entire wiki don't have this citation, even though they come from the games themselves. --Proyecto N (talk) 19:21, December 6, 2025 (EST)
there's no one right way to do it, but here's a few pointers:
  • if the name comes from a line of dialogue, you can just transcribe the whole line.
  • if the name comes from the name of a mission, you can just type out what the mission is named.
  • if the name is stated in a specific menu, you can type something like "In-game name in the [menu]".
Fire Bro's page should have all three for reference. you don't have to stick exactly to what it does, as long as you provide enough information so that we don't have to doubt you. as for most names not having a citation, the proposal i linked above passed 19 years into the wiki's lifespan, and that's a REALLY large backlog to correct. once again, thank you very much for your contributions! — Super Leaf stamp from Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.eviemaybe (talk / contributions) 21:56, December 6, 2025 (EST)
I understand. I'll try to cite my sources from now on, and when I have some free time, I'll do the same with my previous contributions. Thank you very much for the notification!--Proyecto N (talk) 22:10, December 6, 2025 (EST)
