Excuse me but on the trivia "Luigi's final smash Negative zone, could be referincing this" I don't get that. How does a final smash refernce to a world of nothing? User:Yoshiaga/sig 14:51, 27 September 2009 (EDT)

I guess because "Negative Zone" and "World of Nothing" have similar names. I don't see any other reason :P Marioguy1 (talk)
This connection is actually quite far-fetched, since Luigi has no actual connection to this place (except that he is fought there, and it isn't even really him, it's Mr. L). - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 15:33, 27 September 2009 (EDT)

Rudeness[edit]

I spent about ten minutes adding links to other pages, and someone deleted them all! If you did it, or know who did, turn yourself in or tell me who it is or this page is gonna get messed up BAD.{{User:M&L'M&L Baby_mario.gif 19:40, 13 January 2012 (EST)'}}

I don't know who did, but please avoid vandalism - it is a common offense on the Mario Wiki that needs to stop. And if you were just saying that to get people to tell you, that's going to make people less likely, and still should be avoided anyway, no matter the circumstances. In short, please avoid vandalism and threats. Artwork of Mario for Mario Party 8MarioKid (Talk) Official artwork of Luigi. 15:47, 12 May 2016 (EDT)

Discussion over at a section of Talk:Phantamanta, me wondering if Nintendo Music track names (and by extension just music track names as a whole) are a valid source of a name, and a message at my talk page reminded me of something I looked into here. The subject of this article, the destroyed Sammer's Kingdom, is never actually called "World of Nothing". The name of the music track that plays here is what has the name "World of Nothing". When this article was created, the music name was used as the source of the place name (as well as all names in other languages), and it went unnoticed until now. Articles being made for music themes has made this apparent, and it means that the article for the theme "World of Nothing" actually needs to have an identifier, when technically nothing else has that name.

I'm not sure what should be done about this. Naming the location article World of Nothing is technically misleading because it has never been called that and we are deriving the name from the music. But the destroyed Sammer's Kingdom does not appear to have a name. It does not even have a subtitle. The game displays Chapter 6-1 when entering and that is it. The Nintendo Power Player's Guide also does not assign a name. Its table of contents on page 3 even says "Chapter 6-1 [line break] Sammer Guy Showdown", then "Chapter 6-2 [line break] The End of a World" then a simple "Chapter 6-1" with no subtitle like the game. The disambiguation page for Chapter 6-1 (not linking because I don't want this to be stuck as a page linking to a disambig) even says that the destroyed Chapter 6-1 is "untitled".

Leaving it at the current name does not seem right to me, but there is no clear solution to this... --Spencer PK (talk) 03:22, October 20, 2026 (UTC)

Well, from a technical standpoint, we can't have a page with no title. We can't even override the page title with Template:Title to make it look like the page doesn't have a title. The best we can do is override the page title with Template:Title to make the title consist entirely of underscores, which admittedly is the general way to say "this space intentionally left blank" when text is required for a given space, but that still doesn't accurately represent the meta storytelling Super Paper Mario is going for. Salmancer (talk) 03:57, October 20, 2026 (UTC)
I think that the only defined "this is an actual name" name we have is the pure no subtitle "Chapter 6-1", which is not ideal because it could be referring to either the normal or destroyed state. "Sammer's Kingdom (destroyed)" seems worse. A merge also seems like a bad idea... --Spencer PK (talk) 04:41, October 20, 2026 (UTC)
Super Paper Mario is doing a bit. If it's doing a bit, I feel we're allowed to follow through on doing its bit. If the location this page is covering is meant to be the demolished remains of Chapter 6-1, then I think a merge to Sammer's Kingdom, the page that is about Chapter 6-1, is a valid way to represent the bit. I also raise restructuring the page titles for Super Paper Mario pages to make them "Chapter X-Y: [stuff]" specifically so that this page's title can be "Chapter 6-1:". Which would be inconsistent the rest of the wiki, but Super Paper Mario is doing a bit and it would be inaccurate to the game's presentation to not represent the bit. (The right answer is probably "_________" with an explanation at the top of the page as to why the page title can't be blank) Salmancer (talk) 04:53, October 20, 2026 (UTC)
I wouldn't call it a "bit." It has no subtitle because... none of the chapters have subtitles when you reenter the area after having already been there at least once. And you are, technically speaking, revisiting Chapter 6-1 when you enter The World of NothingObliterated Sammer's Kingdom. Wandering Poplin (talk) 05:14, October 20, 2026 (UTC)
I apparently read too deep into "there is no subtitle" because I did not remember that revisits don't display the subtitle. I got completely called out here.
Actually reading into how the game treats the destroyed Sammer's Kingdom, it is treated as the same place as the normal 6-1.
  • As mentioned, the subtitle is not displayed because 6-1 is being revisited.
  • The Chapters menu updates the descriptions of 6-1 and 6-2 to "King Sammer's kingdom has been completely obliterated...", while keeping the icons of the normal Sammer's Kingdom. There are no icons in the game for these to update to the destroyed state, I checked.
Double checking, "World of Nothing" is only said in machi.txt (Flipside and Flopside text) and is grouped with all other music track names. "World of Nothing" is not said in global.txt, which has all the place names and chapter subtitles, or stg6.txt, the text file containing all Chapter 6 text. Unrelated to the current naming topic, but there ARE seemingly unused subtitles for 6-3 and 6-4, but they are copies of 6-1's subtitle. Interesting! Time to document that elsewhere...
The biggest evidence that World of Nothing is intended to be the name of the place is that many other track names use the same name as the place...but this is still based on an assumption, not a confirmed unambiguous source like system text. --Spencer PK (talk) 06:35, October 20, 2026 (UTC)
