I am starting this discussion to preempt any potential edit wars arising regarding the matter. For well over a year, there has been a back-and-forth cycle of changes and edits made to the page over the spelling of "Donut/Doughnut"
- The main arguments behind the change to "Doughnut" appear to mostly stem from it being "non-standard" spelling, and more of a colloquialism.
- The main arguments reversions to "Donut" appear to be because the "Donut" spelling is far more commonly used in American English, which is what this wiki prioritizes. It is also the name used in the Donut article itself, so perhaps there may also be concerns about consistency.
Rather than continuing this cycle any further, let's settle the matter here. If you feel that we should be using "Doughnut" rather than "Donut" (or vice versa), please explain why you feel so. Wandering Poplin (talk) 06:41, August 26, 2026 (UTC)
