Certain markets originally had official access to a variation of the Nintendo eShop at one point, but Nintendo had discontinued the service in those markets for various reasons without a present follow-up, or for long periods of time.

  • Flag of the Russian Federation since December 11, 1993 (also the national flag of Russia from 1896 to 1922). For Russian release dates within this time frame. Russia (closed in 2023 due to complications from the Russian invasion of Ukraine)

In addition, several markets from Latin America and the Caribbean[note 3] had limited variants of the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, all of which shut down on July 31, 2020.

The Nintendo eShop will also close in China on March 31, 2026.[3]
