The Musical Notes are five sentient eighth notes that appear above Star Spaces in Toadette's Music Room in Mario Party DS. When a player reaches a Star Space, the present Musical Note offers a Star in exchange for coins. Each note requires a different number, ordered from least to most expensive; the blue, green, yellow, orange, and red notes accept 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 coins, respectively.
The Musical Notes are five eighth notes that appear only in Toadette's Music Room in Mario Party DS. They are all apparently living beings. They are capable of speech, as they talk to the player when their character runs into them. Each of them often uses words that start with the same letter as its note. They offer a coin trade for a Star. They seem connected to the place, yet they do move around willingly across the entire place whenever the sound of the metronome is ticking.

When the Star Space is relocated, the next Musical Note in the cycle appears above it. Moving the Star Space with a Mysterious Metronome allows Musical Notes to be skipped without anyone purchasing a Star.

*<font color=green>Musical Note G (D in the PAL version)</font>: second smallest of the Musical Notes; hands over a Star for 10 coins

*<font color=yellow>Musical Note B (E in the PAL version)</font>: middle size of the Musical Notes; gives a Star in trade for 15 coins
The Musical Notes' individual identities are contradictory between the NTSC and PAL versions of the game. The NTSC names are a reference to the lines of the treble clef Staff_(music), from bottom to top (E-G-B-D-F). The PAL version has them named after the first five notes in the C major scale (C-D-E-F-G). This results in dialogue for Musical Notes B and C being exclusive to the NTSC and PAL versions, respectively. Similarly, the Japanese and Korean versions designate names based on Western Solfège (Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol).
*<font color=orange>Musical Note D (F in the PAL version)</font>: second biggest of the Musical Notes; trades a Star for 20 coins

*<font color=red>Musical Note F (G in the PAL version)</font>: biggest of the Musical Notes; hands the player a Star for 30 coins
In the Collection, the Musical Notes are listed under #28 of "Board Features" as the secret item from Toadette's Music Room. They can be unlocked through placing first on said board after earning the Toadette Friend Badge.
