Remove featured article status[edit]

  1. Keyblade Master (talk) I'm nominating this to be unfeatured because I feel throughout certain parts of the article there seems to be irrelevant information to the Dry Bones itself e.g. mentioning "the invasion of the X-Nauts" for the Thousand-Year Door section. The quality of the image used in the infobox isn't that great either, and the Origami King section is still marked as a stub.
  2. Ray Trace (talk) Per Keyblade Master. More thoughts on the comments below.
  3. Archivist Toadette (talk) Per Ray Trace.
  4. Waluigi Time (talk) Per Ray Trace. Keyblade Master's initial complaints have been addressed but there's still a lot more work to be done on this article.
  5. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per Ray Trace.
  6. Power Flotzo (talk) Per all.

I went ahead and rewrote that horrendous TTYD section. Are there any other sections in particular you had in mind? --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 13:51, February 7, 2021 (EST)

The Origami King section is still marked as a stub, some sections still have some irrelevant information in their openings (Bowser stealing the Vibe Scepter in Super Princess Peach, uprooting Peach's Castle in Paper Mario). I also don't like how some sections like the Mario Party games seem to treat Dry Bones as a singular character. The Super Mario Galaxy section also mentions how "its soul flies out of its body and back into it after collapsing", and nothing like that can be seen. Alright, I'll get on some of those in a bit. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do for Origami King since I don't have the game. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 14:09, February 7, 2021 (EST)
Sections have been taken care of except Origami King. As a side note, in Galaxy there is a brief flash when the Dry Bones reassembles itself and then their eyes start glowing again, so that's probably where the soul thing came from. Still, it's probably speculation to say that's what it is in the first place. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 14:56, February 7, 2021 (EST)
I have played Origami King so I could probably do that myself. Really, the only thing that's bothering me besides that is the quality of the infobox image, but I suspect there isn't much to do about it. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 15:55, February 7, 2021 (EST)
  • I think the intro can be rewritten and expanded on. It mentions how Dry Bones became a staple in the spin-offs when it just became a staple in general, not just spin-offs. Also, it mentions its signature trait a second paragraph in when I think it should be mentioned earlier (and then it talks about how it's a "lightweight" character in spinoff games when it's literally just Mario Kart that uses that classification and the pairing with Boo is only in Mario Party) and a random mention of its emblem that should be moved to a profiles section.
  • Some sections of the history section is a bit spotty and has leftover 2008 writing, such as linking to Dinosaur Land in the Super Mario World section.
  • The image quality for the infobox I don't think factors into the nomination: if you have issue with it, you should bring it up to a TPP to get it sorted out, as it's otherwise easily fixable.
  • Super Mario Maker 2 3D World style's image needs better quality.
  • This doesn't factor in the nomination since the media is difficult to get by but some comics and manga appearances would be nice.
  • Enemy articles in general should also at least mention remakes such as Super Mario All-Stars. Super Mario Advance 4 is mentioned. New Super Luigi U is also omitted.
  • Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series header is linked when it shouldn't be.
  • Sections need to trim down statements such as "Dry Bones reappear once again " in Superstar Saga's section. It's pretty apparent they make a lot of reappearances by this point in the article, so we don't need to state it. Enemy articles should reduce as much redundant phrasing as possible when talking about their recurring role as enemies in various games.
  • The Mario & Luigi sections probably need more images.
  • Mario Baseball completely lacks images. Super Sluggers also does not describe their roles in the story mode. This sentence, "Oddly, its chemistry with Boo is neutral, despite having some similarities with that species, and that they are partners in Mario Party 7 and Mario Party 8" should be removed and the other "oddly" statement should be removed too.
  • Past Mario & Sonic, there's a lack of images that needs to be filled in.
  • There's a complete lack of Dr. Mario World coverage despite using Dr. Mario World image as its infobox image.
  • Profiles and statistics section needs a rewrite rather than listing random stats.
  • Both instances of trivia should be either removed or incorporated: the first should be in NSMB's section while the second should be removed entirely as it is likely just a coincidence.

How do you suggest tackling the Super Mario All-Stars issue since it has multiple games in it? For Dry Bones it's not too hard since they only appear in SMB3 (in the original version, at least) but if we want this to be a wiki-wide standard it should probably be addressed sooner rather than later, and 3D All-Stars may or may not need similar treatment.
The second piece of trivia is probably valid, though I think it's more likely that the name comes from "Dem Bones" rather than being a direct Biblical reference like the article suggests.
Yeah, "also reappears in" or however you want to word it is something that's always bothered me since it inevitably just turns into an endless chain of using the same phrase, and if it's also painfully obvious that it's a reappearance if it's not the first game in the history section, hence why I try to avoid it whenever possible. It's something that plagues the wiki as a whole, not just this article, and really should be taken care of in my opinion. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! I guess for the appearances ala 3D All-Stars, probably just list them in the game appearances box. But sometimes, remakes come with more than just ports, so I guess if it's more than just a port and there are significant changes to the enemy, should be mentioned. I don't really have any interest in the sports games or Mario Party series, so I kind of overlooked those sections a bit, but thank you Ray Trace for bringing all of that up. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 18:19, February 7, 2021 (EST)
