Item Balloons usually carry harmful or helpful [[List of items|item]]s ranging from [[coin]]s and [[extra life|extra lives]] to [[bomb]]s, [[Pokey (projectile)|Pokey projectile]]s, and [[Shy Guy]]s, which are dropped if the balloons are popped with an [[Yoshi's Egg|egg]] ([[yarn ball]] in ''Yoshi's Woolly World''), with Yoshi's tongue, by direct contact, or if a [[Yoshi (species)|Yoshi]] goes under one if the item is harmful.
