In ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', ice platforms occur only in two levels within the snow-themed [[World 3 (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)|World 3]]. They are the primary platforms available in the first section of [[World 3-3 (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)|World 3-3]]. Most of them perpetually rise from the rightmost corner of an underground [[Water|pool]] and float leftward. Once they reach the opposing wall of the pool, they sink. The part of the terrain they seem to flow through is a [[false wall]] that conceals one of the level's [[Star Coin]]s. The ice platforms themselves are of various sizes and wobble slightly as they float. A [[Warp Pipe|pipe]] releases [[Goomba]]s onto the ice platforms as they float by. A large ice platform near the rightmost portion of this section bobs up and down with an [[Ice Bro]] tossing [[Ice Ball]]s on top of it.

In [[World 3-4 (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)|World 3-4]], the ice platforms are on solid [[ground (block)|ground]], where they slide between two opposing elevated pieces of terrain like {{wp|hockey puck}}s. The player character has no means of stopping their movement, and they are damaged if crushed between terrain and the platform. A very large ice platform is the only footing available in order to cross a large [[pit|chasm]] towards the right of the level.
