...Or more descriptively, is this actually a piece of artwork from the original Super Mario Bros. 3?

Comparing it to other artwork from the gallery, especially this one, I've begun to suspect that this particular version may actually originate from the Game Boy Advance port of the game: Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3.

Aside from the obvious differences, (namely the slight different colors and lack of shading, details which are quite common within these Famicom 40th Anniversary images) there are also a few subtle differences between the two which makes me believe that this image is a touched-up redraw of the original, rather than an image directly from the NES release, a suspicion which also applies to a few other files in the SMB3 gallery page.
