From the Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia
The Exploration Tour was the twenty-second tour of Mario Kart Tour that began on July 15, 2020 and ended on July 28, 2020. Due to its theme around exploration and treasure-hunting, Captain Toad and Toadette in her explorer gear from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker were added as the new spotlight drivers of the tour, while also adding appropriately-themed kart parts such as the Clackety Kart and the Treasure Map. Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64 reappears as the signature track of the tour since its last appearance in Mario Kart DS. The menu's background featured the mountains from Choco Mountain as the landmark for this tour. This tour also featured a Heavy Hitters Pipe, a pipe that focused on heavyweight drivers, and became available on July 19, 2020 and ended on July 23, 2020.
1 - Though Nabbit appeared as an opponent, he was not available in the game yet as a playable character during this tour.
The Exploration Tour reuses the Wario Cup's bonus challenge from the Tokyo Tour for this tour's Waluigi Cup, the Waluigi Cup and Mario Cup's bonus challenges from the Halloween Tour for this tour's Toadette Cup and Larry Cup, and the Waluigi Cup's bonus challenge from the Holiday Tour for this tour's Diddy Kong Cup. However, while the Halloween Tour's Mario Cup bonus challenge (a Time Trial on GCN Dino Dino Jungle) had a three-star requirement time of 1:50.00, the reused challenge in this tour's Larry Cup lessened the requirement for three stars by 8 seconds, to 1:58.00.
Signature kart sets
In every cup, the driver which the cup is themed about is raised a tier on each track, making them a three- or two-item driver on that course. Up until the Ice Tour, a kart and a glider were also given a bonus for each race in the cup.
Gold cells indicate rewards exclusive to Gold Pass members.
Initial pipe appearance rates
In the Exploration Tour, the Heavy Hitters Pipe held 50 items instead of 100 items and contained these items:
