Petition to delete category and all images contained within

Hello! I'd like to start the discussion on the topic of these particular game screenshots. The reasons being, in order of relevance to the wiki:

• This particular set of screenshots, contrary to any other game screenshots, don't actually contribute anything to the wiki. The combination of assets used by the game to automatically create this image is already contained within List of drivers in Mario Kart Tour, List of karts in Mario Kart Tour and List of gliders in Mario Kart Tour, each with their respective game sprite, name and Special Skill.
• The wiki itself doesn't has a meaningful use for them, they only appear in Gallery:Mario_Kart_Tour_screenshots and not within tour pages, since given the game randomness it's impossible to connect each screenshot to a certain tour.
• Given that the game used to be random and highly monetized it was impossible for a single player to capture all the possible screenshots for all obtainable elements (In fact, the list of missing items has been growing larger recently). As the game is also available in as many models of cellphones as possible a group of players will obtain different screens with different image sizes, resolutions and objects placements. These will never allow the wiki to obtain a standardized and complete set of all Drivers/Karts/Gliders unlock screens. (e.g.File:PenguinToadUnlock.png has been requested to reupload a better quality image but we have images with file sizes smaller than 1.16 MB and dimensions smaller than 856 × 1,358)

I agree on deleting most of these screenshots for the same reasons you laid out, but I would keep a single representative screenshot for each unlock method (i.e. pipe, ranking bonus, challenge completion, and challenge card completion), as the text shown on-screen differs slightly depending on said unlock method. (Screenshots showing items obtained from placing in ranked cups have a "Ranking Bonus" tag; those with items obtained from completing whole challenge cards show "Complete!"; those with items obtained from completing an individual challenge show "Challenge cleared!"; and those with items of pipe provenance don't have a tag of this sort.) I think it would probably be okay to just keep a few representative images to showcase what the unlock screens look like, and then toss the rest. We don't have screenshots showcasing, for example, obtaining every different item in Paper Mario (nor should we) and that's basically the same thing here. -- Too Bad! So, kind of new to this process, but I already modified Gallery:Mario_Kart_Tour_screenshots as to show 1 of each, do I have to change all images to add the delete template or just this discussion will do? MariusM (talk) 10:48, January 11, 2023 (EST)
