The Landmaster is a powerful tank vehicle introduced in Star Fox 64 / Lylat Wars, used by the Star Fox team in ground missions. It appears as the Final Smashes of Fox, Falco, and Wolf in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and just Fox and Falco in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. Its design is based upon its appearances in both Star Fox 64 and Star Fox: Assault, Fox and Falco's being the standard Landmaster while Wolf's is colored after the ships used by Star Wolf team, the Wolfen.

Upon breaking a Smash Ball, the character leaps into the air and falls back down inside the Landmaster. While controlling the Landmaster, the player can move freely, battering any opponents on contact; fire the cannon by pressing the standard and special attack buttons, which damages all opponents in its radius and on top of the barrel; barrel roll by tiling down on the control stick, which also damages any opponents on or near the tank; and hover in the air by holding the jump button. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl the cannon cannot fire while hovering, while in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U it can, but the hovering is cut off.

Falco's Landmaster has weaker shots and battering damage, but a stronger barrel roll with less knockback, and the cannon shots deal more damage when opponents are standing on it. It also flies faster than Fox's, though it is the slowest on the ground. Wolf's has the greatest attack power and movement speed, both on the ground and in the air, though it does not last as long as the others.
