Re: Compressing images

We compress png and gif images to give a smaller file size, so they take longer to load on a page. For example, see this file. Before compression, it was 163kb. But after compression, it is 112kb. See User:RAP/PNG for details on a program which can compress images.

New users

I've noticed that you've been giving new users the welcome template, now whilst I'm not telling you to stop I personally think that it would be better to see if they contribute to the wiki, and if they do meaningful edits then welcome them. Yoshi876 (talk)

You need an editing tool, like Photoshop or Gimp. Go to layer box section, then add alpha channel that surrounds the now transparent image.
