I am Bop1996, and for my friends in on the joke, also known as AlphaGeek or Scribe, so those names are acceptable, I guess. I am here because I have an insatiable knowledge for information on my favorite things, which includes Nintendo games, mostly Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. I created a profile so I could use my knowledge to help the wiki, and I always strive to make that my focus when editing. I am very lazy, except for interests, and consider procrastination a hobby.

As far as Mario games go, I've played both Galaxies and part of 64. I also have New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but it is hard for me to play because of siblings. I received Super Paper Mario for last Christmas but haven't beat it yet, and I bought Paper Mario off the Virtual Console just because I heard it might be shut down, but I only played the first half-hour of it.

Random Information(Handily Categorized for your viewing pleasure)

Video Games

Mario

  • I died about 800 times between Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. About 50 of those deaths came from Luigi's Purple Coins from Galaxy 1. I did not smash a single controller, just a sibling.
  • If you try to think to much about the plot of a normal Super Mario game, you miss the point. The point is not that Peach is rescued from Bowser, that's just enough to supply motive for Mario, no, the point is the journey you take. It is light, carefree, frustrating, and sometimes controller throwing, all at once. That is the point of Mario, to enjoy the journey. Rescuing Peach simply serves as the manifestation of the reward for completing the game.

The Legend of Zelda

  • It took me about 30 hours each to beat Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, and about 5 of each was spent wandering aimlessly trying to figure out what to do next.
  • Much as with Mario, the point of a Zelda game is not rescuing Zelda, but rescuing the people. I find myself a little disappointed by the ending of Twilight Princess, not because it was bad, but because too much of the focus was on Midna, while in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Wind Waker, the focus is on what happens to the people. I was touched watching Mido and King Zora see their loved ones again, possibly for the last time, I was heartened by seeing Link and
Tetra going off to found a new land for the people. That is why I play Zelda games, the people have been so lovingly crafted by Nintendo, I have to save them to feel vindicated. If the people are saved, the princess can stay captured. What makes Link such a great hero is the fact that you his personality is a gap you can fill, and for me, such a meaningful land, Hyrule, is a land worth saving and preserving, as long as Tingle grows up.
  • Whenever I print Zelda sheet music, the only ones that say "repeat forever" are the ones from Ocarina of Time. Coincidence? No.

Metroid

  • Just as with Mario and Zelda, the point of Metroid is not revenge, or money, the point is that you are an orphaned bounty hunter, completely on your own, at least in the best of those games, and there is an evil on the planet, you must kill it. That is it. As far as instructions go, you are completely on your own if you choose, with no NPC there to tell you no, only your suit and your physical limits prevent you from moving on. Things such as tons of weapons, or an amazing user interface are, while still there, and still fantastic, shunted off to the side to make way for atmosphere, music, details. Through the journey, you will gain new abilities and see exactly how hard Samus must work to keep the galaxy safe. This is the point of Metroid.
  • This is a statue of a Chozo architect, this statue is flawless. Leave it to the Chozo to program Samus' suit to compliment their architecture.
  • The Omega Pirate is really hard, unless you come with 13 energy tanks, 240 missiles, and 8 power bombs.

Other Info

  • I am currently playing through The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and Chrono Trigger, both of which are excellent games and totally worth the 10 or less dollars you can get it for.
  • I have 100% completed Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, LoZ: Twilight Princess(wii) and Ocarina of Time, and Metroid Prime 1
  • I believe video games allow me to experience what the characters experience, and enjoy what they enjoy, thus making video games an art form of expression.
  • Death count for the games I have 100%:
    • Super Mario Galaxy; 400
    • Super Mario Galaxy 2; 700
    • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time; 1
    • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess; 5
    • Metroid Prime 1; 0 (I'm proud of that one)
