I know that I made a port/remake proposal before, but this one's different. First, some context. On July 18, 2018,a proposal to split Switch/3DS games on a case by case basis passed.
Given this proposal, I'd say the SNES Wario's Woods is more than transformative enough to qualify for a split. In addition to adding the VS COM and extra difficulty, the existing Round Game and Time Race game modes have significant changes between consoles as well, with entirely different monster layouts per screen, soundtrack, and the removal of standard bosses. It's somewhat forcing it to keep them in the same article. LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:25, October 20, 2019 (EDT)

#LinkTheLefty Thing with Satellaview Wario's Woods is that it's not just one version, but at least four. Right now, deeming them edits of the SNES version is well enough. When there's more information, we can reconvene and gather which Satellaview versions are worth splitting further and whatnot.

#Hewer Per all, it baffles me how it took this long for this to happen.
#Arend Per all. Satellaview version can stay with the SNES version until we have further information on its differences.

So, how come the NES and SNES versions weren't suggested to be split until now? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 12:21, March 14, 2024 (EDT)

:No one really thought to or was willing to do all the work; for most people, this game is pretty low-priority, to the point that basically the only reason anyone references it ever is because of the version-exclusive mermaids. A similar case is Missing and Time Machine which are not split between systems despite being functionally completely different games. Question: if the first option passes (and it's looking poised to), are we going with "Wario's Woods (Nintendo Entertainment System)" for the title? Yes I know I suggested it but it's been nearly five years with little traction until now. Since it was released first by about ten months and it's the version that gets re-released much more often, I'm thinking the NES one should be the "default" article, following the formatting of other subjects. :I dunno, since it's not an outright remake, I don't like giving priority for that type of thing since one version will always be the "real" version in someones eyes, for instance with the Mario & Sonic games and the console vs handheld versions of them (note I also don't like it when one of those Sonic games that get multiple concurrent releases with the same plot and basic assets get one version prioritized, like with Colors, Generations, Lost World, and especially Unleashed). ::Fair point. LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:53, March 14, 2024 (EDT)
::Yeah, fair point. Though honestly, it's kind of surprising. I leave this going for 2 days, and 6 other people have voted on it! "(note I also don't like it when one of those Sonic games that get multiple concurrent releases with the same plot and basic assets get one version prioritized, like with Colors, Generations, Lost World, and especially Unleashed)" Yeah, although there ARE Sonic Colors Ulltimate(which is one of those remakes that actually is somehow WORSE than the OG game/s) & the upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations(yes, it's real), but then again, those are CONCURRENT releases. Though Wario's Woods is also a concurrent release in the US and probably Europe too, it's not in Japan. So that's a problem, which is the "OG", and which is the "remake/port"? SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) 07:18, March 15, 2024 (CST)
:::My guess: the Famicom version came out very late in the console's life cycle that it probably almost didn't release on the NES, and the condition to release it in the West was to make a SNES version. Possibly, the decision to skimp on the Super Famicom physical release was to cut on cartridge costs for the then-upcoming Satellaview (maybe not unwise, because if you can believe it, there was a time when SNES games like Wario's Woods and Kirby's Avalanche were sold complete in bargain bins). Solid development information on this game is scarce, though. LinkTheLefty (talk) 08:50, March 15, 2024 (EDT)
