Mario Portal confirms that "Volcano Lotus", the original Super Mario World name, is the correct one. "Volcano Plant" is from Super Princess Peach, whose English localization is janky in the same way that Super Mario RPG's is, containing inconsistencies like "Boss P. Plant" and "Mecha-Spike Top".
