| Smorgs attacked the [[Excess Express]] in ''[[Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]'' after being released in the [[Riverside Station]]. They secretly entered the train overnight and abducted almost all the passengers. Mario was just speaking with the driver when a Smorg splatted on the window. Then another, and another, and another, until the entire window was blocked. Soon the entire train was covered, leaving every window blocked and the train empty. Mario hurried to the caboose to find the Smorgs attacking the conductor and waitress. Mario quickly saved them, and they all realized that everybody must have been attacked in their sleep. Mario hurried to the roof—which was covered with massive hordes of Smorgs—and made his way towards the front of the train. All the Smorgs began to squeeze together, and they formed an octopus-like monstrosity. This [[Smorg]] had indeed taken all of the passengers and Mario had to fight it to save them.
