Fans were waiting for the game but it never came. For unknown reasons it was announced cancelled. It's possibe that its elements went in for [[Super Smash Bros. While his father is the "son" of Mr. Game & Watch's, he is the "ruler of Coliseum". His quotes "My son, i've been waiting for you. Now i dare you to fight me!" and "I won't lose!" reference the quotes of how his father had fought Mr. Game & Watch at the Coliseum to fight him in his original form, and when he is defeated before transforming in his true form, as well as with the beginning of the final battle against his long lost father in a Game & Watch game, which Mr. Game & Watch himself has to fight him. It is one of the strongest bosses in the game, despite his Off Waves (similar to [[Tabuu]]'s) move causing players to get OHKO'd even if the player stays too close to him. Upon defeat, he transforms into his true form that is more stronger than his original form, with new moves like the Buzzsaw Slice which deals 45-75% of damage (and an Instant KO when played at a hard difficulty or higher.). Upon the true form's defeat, he will fall on the ground, grunting, similar to his death animation in a Game & Watch game.

Yoshiaki Koizumi, the director of [[Super Mario 3D Land]] has suggested that he would like to see Super Mario Sunshine in 3D, along with the Galaxy games. The world may always think Sunshine would be the more realistic choice, but the world may never think think it’s too necessary considering the existence of Super Mario 3D Land. Either way, here’s the full quote:

I can say that I really would like to see a lot of those games that use 3D worlds on 2D display just so I could see what they look like in 3D and see what kind of different experiences people would have playing through them on a 3D display. So in that sense I would love to see Sunshine and both Galaxy games presented in 3D, and a lot of the Zelda [games] would be interesting too.
