There are several different kinds of Food in the Super Smash Bros. series.  Coming in several different varieties, food restores a small amount of damage when consumed and can be recovered from Crates, Capsules, and other similar containers, and can be found in large quantities inside of Party Balls at a 36% chance.

Food, a two-dimensional item, heals very small portions of damage compared to other healing items.  The amount of health restored varies; a cup of coffee may heal two percent of the character's damage while a meatloaf may heal nine.  The pieces of food come from various Nintendo game series; the rice treat originally appeared in the Pokémon television series, the Banana Bunch appeared in the Donkey Kong series, cheese, by a sheer coincidence, has appeared in a handful of Mario games, but most of the food came from Kirby games.

A trophy of Food appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the category of items that appear in the game. It should be noted that Superspicy Curry does not fall under this item category, being a separate item instead.

|These food items will restore your health when you eat them. There are 28 different types of food, and the nutritional value and deliciousness quotient differs slightly with each type. Party Balls tend to hold the largest amount of food items. You may be vulnerable when gorging yourself, but you do need to eat to survive.

Trophy Information from Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Treats that decrease your damage. The nutritional value of each food, and how much damage it heals, is carefully measured. What's better for you, sushi or a donut? Party Balls contain a lot of food, so if you eat it all yourself, you can really lower your damage. There may be times when you laugh and walk away from food, and times when you watch someone else eating and cry.
