Elevator Key

An Elevator Key is a small Key found in the game Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. There are two Elevator Keys in the game: one is found in Riverside Station and the other in X-Naut Fortress. Mario must retrieve the first in order to operate the elevator in the front room of that station – the elevator will then take him to the switch that lowers the drawbridge that is delaying the train. This key was seemingly hidden by the Smorgs to stop and slow down Mario in his mission.

In the X-Naut Fortress, the second key is obtained by solving a puzzle where Mario must only step on the platforms that light up to get to the other side and to collect the key. This key is used to access the elevator, and the player can now go to sublevel 1 and 2. The third is guarded by the robotic Thwomp. Mario gets it after the Super Fun Quirk Quiz. It allows access to sublevels 3 and 4. The in-game description reads: "A key that operates an elevator in the X-Naut base."
