Cosmic Mario is a character in the game Super Mario Galaxy. He appears as a starry clone of Mario, similar in appearance to Shadow Mario. When a Cosmic Comet is flying by in a level, Cosmic Mario will appear from it and challenge Mario to a race. Mario then has to get through numerous obstacles against Cosmic Mario to get the Power Star. If the player is playing as Luigi, Cosmic Luigi will appear in place of Cosmic Mario.

Trivia

• Cosmic Mario's appearance is similar to Shadow Mario, a disguise of Bowser Jr. which he created with the Magic Paintbrush. However, the Magic Paintbrush was found by the runner Il Piantissimo on the beach in the ending of Super Mario Sunshine, and he could have used the Paintbrush to become Cosmic Mario.
