Template:Minigame-infobox Wing and a Scare is a Duel minigame in Mario Party 8. Its name is a pun on the idiom "on a wing and a prayer", which refers to doing something with the hope of success even though there is little chance of it happening.

Introduction

Players act as airplane pilots and take off from a stone platform, flying forward through a city suspended in the air.

Gameplay

The objective is to reach the finish first. Players must use the Wii Remote to maneuver their planes through holes or openings of various shapes in a series of walls. As the minigame progresses, columns, floating landmasses, and rotating holes are introduced as obstacles. If both players make it to the goal at the same time, or if five minutes pass, the minigame ends in a tie.

Ending

Unless there is a tie, the minigame ends with the winner flying through the city with confetti falling behind him or her.

In-game text

  • Rules"Tilt the wings of your plane as you try to clear the obstacles and reach the finish line first."
  • Hint"If you hit an obstacle or trap, your aircraft will rebound and you'll lose time!"
