VS. Mode (Super Mario 64 DS)

VS. Mode is a multiplayer mode in Super Mario 64 DS allowing up to four players to fight in battles to earn and steal the most stars, coins, and caps in 30 seconds. There's 5 stars in each of the four levels. Press the orange icon VS. then it'll look for opponents. Other players should press DS Download Play, and their names will be dipsplayed on the host's screen. Then press Touch To Start button and takes 30 seconds to download then tell which Yoshi color each player is. Player 1 (the host) is Green, Player 2 is Red, Player 3 is Blue, and Player 4 is Yellow. You can practice alone to know where the stars, coins, and caps are. You can press the Start and Select buttons to change settings, and the host will decide what maps you'll play. The fun starts there! After the round is finished, it'll show the results of how many coins and stars each player has. If both players have the same stars. The one with most coins wins. You can't press select start/select buttons in middle of multiplayer, but can in single-player.

Castle Grounds

This is outside the castle in the normal game, but here the doors have red ropes blocking access to the castle. The cannon is to, there's a moving platform in the moat and lake, and a Chain Chomp is bouncing around. One of the stars is at it's chain.

Sunshine Isles

In the main game, this course is accessed passed the middle door of the character selection room in Peach's Rec Room, near Mario's painting. Jumping is useful in this level, because there's water. There's few differences, the music changed, the sky is faced differently, and there's no enemies, like the Secret Slide. And also, there's a yellow fox (had Koopa Shellin main game) with a feather, which anyone can use to fly, but only Mario could fly in the normal game.

The Princess's Secret Slide

This level is in the character selection room. In this version, it's the smallest and most fun level. The caps are located in the beginning and end. The end is the best place for fighting. If you fall, you'll respond at the beginning.

Battle Fort

This course is accused back outside the castle in the Boo's courtyard, under three brick blocks , but in this version, it's most biggest and complicated level, because of the black rolling balls, but only Wario can break them, or while spinning Yoshi .

Characters

Each character has one or more special abilities, tricks, moves, and attacks only in Versus Mode.

=Yoshi

Yoshi can swallow enemies, objects, and make eggs. Press A to swallow them and A to spit them out. Thus you just retrieved the star from the person you swallowed. Press R to make eggs and press A to grow them a lot farther. Yoshi is average at speeds. Yoshi can't swallow characters with caps. If an opponent attacks Yoshi swallowing another Yoshi , the swallowed Yoshi automatically comes out. In fact, the one who swallows now is hurt.

Mario

Mario can wall kick, and is the most balanced character, to evade enemies, not an attack. Press B to jump and B again to perform the move.

Luigi

Luigi has the most and best moves and is almost as balance as his brother. He can scuttle, to jump over enemies. Press and hold B He can't jump higher than Yoshi's Flutter Jump, but jumps better and best and fastest runner. He can somersault. If someone is running a behind or toward him, Luigi can roll over them. If he land on them, he hurts them. Luigi has the ability to run on water for a short period of time, useful in Sunshine Isles.

Wario

Mario's nemesis, Wario is isn't average in anything, but he's so strong. He's the only character to have one special ability, which is the swing and fling. When Wario attacks anyone, they get knocked out slightly longer, giving him chance to grab, swing, and throw them. Press A three times once to grab, second time to swing, and a third time to throw. The stunned Yoshi will automatically fall out of Wario's hands if anyone attacks him, while grabbing Yoshi.

Trivia

. Yellow Yoshi jump into the painting before Red and Blue after a stage is selected. . If Waluigi was in the game, there would be up to 5 players and 5 courses. . If Player 2 as Red Yoshi quits after a round there'll be Green and Blue Yoshi without Red. If Blue Yoshi quits there will be Green, Red, and Yellow Yoshi, and if Red quits, there'll be Green, Blue and Yellow, and if Red and Blue quit, it'll be Green and Yellow.
