After [[Bowser]] takes Peach's castle to the sky and easily KOs Mario, [[Eldstar]] notifies [[Mario]] in a dream to head to the summit for counsel. Once he has awakened from his unconciousness state after many days and [[Goombario]]'s family revives him, he heads to the summit. Once he arrives, all seven [[Star Spirit]]s appear (using the last of their power to create the projection) and reveal to Mario he must rescue all of them to save [[Princess Peach]]. When he saves all seven of them, they use their power to open a portal to [[Star Way]], which leads towards Star Haven.

It appears for a third time in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time]]'', under its original name. The [[Star Shrine]] is located near Star Hill in ''Partners in Time'' and the Hill is the location where the [[boss]] [[Commander Shroob]] is fought. It is quite a small level and enemies include [[Love Bubble]]s, [[Handfake]]s and [[Fly Guy]]s. The "spirit of the [[Cobalt Star]]" (in reality [[Elder Princess Shroob]]) speaks to the Mario Bros. on top of the hill after Commander Shroob is defeated. A pipe to Star Hill can be found in the destroyed [[Toad Town]] near the [[Time Hole]] to [[Princess Peach's Castle]] Basement.
