:The item drops do not need to be in separate columns, they will stay as they are now. It looks better this way and keeps things compact. However, I need you to tell me what the difference between Hand and Thunder/Fire are since they both seem to do the same thing.--{{User:Eldritchdraaks/sig}} 23:43, 13 December 2016 (EST)

== Future tense ==
You've been reminded about this [[User talk:Zootalo/Archive 2#Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition Level Articles|in the past]], but once again, please keep in mind that writing in the future tense goes against our good writing policy. Any verb that's been conjugated in the form of "will ''x''", as in, "[[Shellshock]] ''will'' eat it instead," is considered future tense. Always make sure to keep track of your writing! {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 23:38, 29 January 2017 (EST)
== Item drop chances ==
I don't know if you or someone else copied the item drop info for Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time / Bowser's Inside Story, but the rates of the items as they stand are misleading.  I just put together an [https://supermariofiles.wordpress.com/2017/09/08/item-drop-rates/ article] on how drop rates are calculated in the first three ''Mario & Luigi'' and ''Paper Mario'' games, for reference (with the actual item drop data linked as well).  [[User:Jdaster64|Jdaster64]] ([[User talk:Jdaster64|talk]]) 14:07, 9 September 2017 (EDT)
== RE: Character descriptions from manuals and guides ==
Nothing against adding descriptions from official material. The "List of X profiles and statistics" subpages or sections would be a good place to add those if they have one. If not (e.g. for [[Rip Van Fish]]), you can always create an "Official profiles" section for that. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 22:57, 24 September 2018 (EDT)
== Re:Yoshi Shogakukan ==
Sorry for the horrendous delay - I almost forgot about it. Some of it is honestly hard to make out from the pictures, so don't take this as 100%, but here's a rough look...
[https://www.mariowiki.com/File:Yoshi_NES_Shogakukan.jpg Cover]
A pretty standard front cover that looks to be in the style of their ''Super Mario World'' guides. The right blurb says, "''Get 50K Points! Reach Level 28! Battle Play Tips!''"

'''''Yoshi's Egg''''' Original Story
5
''Once upon a time on islands. Before the birth of humans, in this spec floating on the seas, there lived many dinosaurs and turtles.''
[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Df-A_NsUYAAoifD.jpg 6]
''One day, the volcano in the middle of the islands erupted, and debris violently hit the islands.''
''All of the dinosaurs attempted to flee the scene, their eggs swallowed from up the mountain to down the valley.''
7
''Tens of thousands of years have passed since then, and the islands became too quiet. Newer creatures have been born. Now, they inhabit fossilized egg pieces.''
[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Df-BAJXU0AAWxHw.jpg 8]
''Then, from the Native Star, 5 shooting stars fell to the ground.'' (Note: Native Star is what the Star World courses from ''Super Mario World'' are called in the Japanese version.)
9
''Native Star's light pierced an egg piece, and it fell down the side of the mountain along with the stars, combining with the pieces below.''
[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Df-BA6jU8AEcVWI.jpg 10]
''As soon as it became one, the egg at last cracked, and Yoshi was born from within.''
11
''With Native Star's mysterious light, many other dinosaurs that had become fossils were resurrected, and "Dinosaur Land" became the name of the islands. If you find Yoshi's Egg, would you not give it tender love and care?''
''Yoshi may be born with your consideration.''
[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Df9_UJcV4AAYHAU.jpg 58]
'''''World Premiere — It's the Truth About Yoshi!!'''''
'''''Yoshi All-Encompassing Illustrations'''''
''Mario's minion? Friend? What kind of monster? Yoshi is in the game, but there are many aspects yet to be understood. Here you will discover Yoshi's biggest secrets.''
'''''Yoshi Mouth''': Like a chameleon, the tongue lashes out. Can also spit flames.''
'''''Yoshi Wings''': Sometimes grows wings over time. Can fly all the way to America.''
'''''Yoshi Back''': Even supporting Mario's weight, it retains a catlike sense of balance. Wears a horse saddle.''
'''''Yoshi Stomach''': Does a nice job of digesting almost anything short of a turtle shell. Barely gets stomachaches.''
'''''Yoshi Rear''': Although the tail hides it from view, it appears to be utilized to produce eggs.''
59
'''''Exploring Yoshi's Life'''''
''He recently hatched. However, he has a block from morning to evening. He has a life, with his own objectives. Let's look over his life.''
'''''8:00 - Out of Bed''': Our Yoshi awakens at a time early for Dinosaur Land. The average wake-up time for Dinosaur Land islanders enveloped by the mellow environment is 10 o'clock.''
'''''11:00 - Schoolwork''': Our Yoshi goes to school to study various subjects, including national dance, accounting, music theory, philosophy, applied physics, and transportation engineering. He's fairly intelligent.''
'''''15:00 - Work''': The afternoon is spent assisting Mario in his constant struggle against Koopa. Our Yoshi's block is done for today after this.''
'''''19:00 - Free Time''': Mario and friends usually have time to relax at this point. There are often games that are played together.''
In summary, Shogakukan gives us an origin story for Dinosaur Land and present-day dinosaurs in general, plus a silly look at Yoshi's biology and daily life. Neat! [[User:LinkTheLefty|LinkTheLefty]] ([[User talk:LinkTheLefty|talk]]) 13:20, 3 December 2018 (EST)

== Where to put ''Paper Mario'' quotes ==
Do you think quotes from ''Paper Mario'' characters should be (1) centralized on the [[List of Paper Mario quotes]] page, or (2) placed on the pages of the individual characters? I think (2) is preferable, because it allows room for more quotes as well as better organizations, but it has the disadvantage of mixing secondary sources and primary sources on a single page. (I'm embarking on a project which requires the quotes to be grouped by location for roaming characters like Parakarry.) --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 07:39, September 3, 2021 (EDT)
: Uh, never mind. According to [[MarioWiki:Empty sections]], the "Quotes" section of the character page is supposed to be a sample of the {{fake link|List of ''xxx'' quotes}} page, about 5 to 10 items long. (The problem is that some characters only have five quotes throughout the game...) --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 10:43, September 3, 2021 (EDT)
== Zelda enemies ==
Thank you for helping on elaborating upon the Mario enemies' role within ''Legend of Zelda'' games. I have been imagining the Mario Wiki coverage scope being strengthened considering Mario franchise's influence within so many forms of media, and possibly how to word general Nintendo/SSB stuff from a ''Mario''-related angle. Fact that Pinball and Pictobits are looking to have full coverage inspired me to follow in lead with some Zelda-related stuff (plays in at a good time). ==Re:Bubble==
I think the word the ''Paper Mario'' games use is {{wp|obake|オバケ}} in Japanese, which doesn't always refer to ghosts in the western sense. That may be why it was translated as a "spirit" in the Tattle. That said, some of the variants, like Phantom Ember and Lava Ghost, do seem to be more along those lines... ==[[Special:Diff/3794689|Regarding writing systems]]==
So, I really don't think it's needed at all on those pages. Furigana already shows you the intended reading, so it looks unnatural when the intended reading is duplicated next to the furigana. I think it works when it differs in some way from how it's written, like through the use of katakana rather than hiragana or alternate characters. [[Special:Diff/3800774#Furigana|Especially]] since the wiki will be phasing out <code><nowiki>{{hover|[K]|[H]}}</nowiki></code> ({{hover|[K]|[H]}}) and <code><nowiki>{{ruby|[K]|[H]}}</nowiki></code> ({{ruby|[K]|[H]}}) where applicable, so now the duplication would be more readily visible to readers. [[User:LinkTheLefty|LinkTheLefty]] ([[User talk:LinkTheLefty|talk]]) 17:38, January 7, 2023 (EST)
:I'll chime in and say that I disagree. When the names in Japanese are listed it's meant to show exactly what they are referred to in any given source, and combining sources with different writing systems because one uses the other's writing in the furigana makes it look like both of those sources use the same writing system. For example, if source A refers to an enemy as "Debu Inu" (fat dog) in kanji with hirigana in the furigana and Source B refers to that same enemy with the same name, but written only in hirigana without the kanji, combining both of those sources under Source A's writing system makes it look like Source B ''also'' uses kanji with hirigana furigana on top, which would be false. Leaving the names separate avoids this confusion. {{User:Somethingone/sig}} 17:58, January 7, 2023 (EST)
::To be clear, "combining sources" isn't the idea here. Like, if there's a known source that only uses hiragana and another source that only uses kanji, but the pronunciation is otherwise the same, they would still be listed separately and not merged from there to form the hypothetical furigana on our end. The idea is to prioritize official sources that clearly show the furigana, making identical, furigana-less version(s) unnecessary. Japanese is a phonetic language, so it isn't really seen the same way as alternate English spellings per se. Given the remake is only a month away, wouldn't you rather wait until it's out? The thoughts are probably getting more direct translations if [https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F7CPRh5XcAAqXN5?format=jpg this] is anything to go by. (Although I am aware that some lines have been reworked slightly compared to the original.) Also, that site's transcriptions are missing some of the nuances in the Japanese text like the heart symbol. == Machine Made Yaridovich's attacks ==
Hello, I thought I'd ask you, since you seem to have added most of the info on the SMRPG bestiary, where'd you find each enemy's attacks? I'm asking, because the Machine Made Yaridovich has two special attacks listed (Pierce and "Glowing Shot") and it seems he never actually uses them. If you look at his script [http://web.archive.org/web/20100103091436/http://giangurgolo.home.att.net:80/smrpg/battlescripts.html here], you can see he is coded to only use them when "$00, bit 01" is set, which it never is by either him or the Bits he splits into. And in the remake's Monster List, he only has animations for his spells. So should the special attacks be removed? [[User:Blinker|Blinker]] ([[User talk:Blinker|talk]]) 11:45, December 3, 2023 (EST)
:Alright, thanks! Also, sorry if my comment's wording wasn't all that well-chosen. [[User:Blinker|Blinker]] ([[User talk:Blinker|talk]]) 17:22, December 3, 2023 (EST)
