Even though Wario cannot be defeated in most boss battles, each of them has a way to eject Wario from the area to force a restart through needing to reenter the area to battle them again. Once the boss battle initiates, pressing Start will cause a buzzing sound to be played, meaning that the boss battle cannot be paused.
