Koopatraz State Prison is one of King Koopa's many dungeons in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It only appeared in "Escape from Koopatraz". Koopatraz is based on Alcatraz, a famous jail on San Francisco, California.
Like Alcatraz, Koopatraz is on a small island. The island's water is filled with Trouters. For some reason Goombas guard the place instead of Koopas. Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Toadstool and Gramps were the only ones known to be held in this jail. Durig the episode, they were trapped in Koopatraz, however were able to escape using a boat. Mario and the gang then used a Bob-omb to destroy Koopatraz and sink the island it was on.
