Chips are blob-like enemies with glowing eyes that appear Super Mario 3D World. They only appear in the fights against Motley Bossblob, being part of his giant transformation. When Motley makes his final jump, he split from the Chips, after which Motley will be momentarily stunned, and the Chips present notice Mario and begin to chase him. Chips can be defeated with any attack method, granting 200 points to the scoreboard. When Motley is hit, all the Chips present shrink, after which Motley summons more Chips from the ground to form a new body. If Motley isn't hit, he will form his transformation again with the remaining Chips. In the final phase, when Motley is defeated, the Chips present in the battle are instantly defeated instead of shrinking. If the player only defeats the Chips instead of hitting Motley, when Motley reforms his body from the remaining Chips, his body will be smaller. The fewer Chips there are, the smaller body he forms. If all the Chips are eliminated from the battle, Motley will be confused for a few seconds, after which he will summon new Chips to form a new body.
