Donkey Kong Jr. (New Wide Screen)
- Instruction booklet description (Button 2): Press for Junior to jump over snapjaws and sparks. Also for his first jump to grab vines and chains.
Donkey Kong Jr. (Table Top)
- Instruction booklet description (Jump Button): To make Junior grab key. To make Junior jump for vine.[1]
Super Mario Bros.
- Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt instruction booklet description (A Button): Mario (Luigi) jumps higher if youhold the button down longer.[2]

- Mario and Super Mario both jump the same height.
- The height Mario jumps depends on how long you hold the A button down.
- You can use the
control pad to make Mario hook to the left or right even in mid-air!
- Pushing the B button makes Mario speed up, and when Mario is speeded[sic] up he can jump higher.[3]

- Instruction booklet description: If you press the A button when standing still, you will jump on the spot. However, you cannot jump very high.[4]
- Instruction booklet description (Running jump): Jump by pressing either the left or right side of the control pad and using the A button while running. You can jump higher than a jump on the spot, so it is easier to avoid enemy attacks.[4]
