Parameter to only show the section name?[edit]
I was experimenting with this function, and I found that the third parameter could be modified to only show either the main or section name:
- <includeonly>{{#if:{}|sec||{{#ifeq: {}|main||{}}}}}|{{#ifeq: {}|sec|{}|{{#ifeq: {}|main|{}|{} § {}}}}}|§}}</includeonly>
I see this as useful, due to the fact that the pipe trick does not work with sections, and the section only showing could potentially help for things like years (although the length of List of games by date might warrant its own template?) because this template as it stands is bit niche. I also have versions for only one of them:
- <includeonly>{{#if:{}|}}}|main||{}}}|{{#ifeq: {}|main|{}|{} § {}}}|§}}</includeonly>
- <includeonly>{{#if:{}|}}}|sec||{}}}|{{#ifeq: {}|sec|{}|{} § {}}}|§}}</includeonly>
I would like these to be implemented, but i'm not sure if they're entirely necessary, so this is just a suggestion. This will not affect any current usages of this template. This is just an expansion to reduce its nicheness. Altendo 13:50, December 11, 2025 (EST)
- The whole reason for this template is that § is hard to type. If you want to create a link that doesn't use § at all, then I think you would just use a normal piped link. I don't exactly want this to turn into another "Template:A" and replace every possible link when a normal link works fine. For years, there is y. --Steve (talk)
