No actually your half right about the guard preventing status effects. Against the [[X-Yux]], the [[Guard]] doesn't work against immobilization. I have heard from a somewhat reliable source (a complete fanatic who has beaten the Pit before fighting Hooktail many times) that Bonetail's breath is not superguardable.
