I'm curious too, does the Japanese wiki provide any source for the names? I've been told by some hardcore Mario fans that Japanese wiki names usally match up with obscure guides & whatnot, but I'm still leery on trusting Japanese fansites because they're Japanese. --[[User:Glowsquid|Glowsquid]] ([[User talk:Glowsquid|talk]]) 12:05, 4 February 2014 (EST)

:A few of the names match up with those in Mario Vs. Donkey Kong based on scans I found of guides on eBay (others are slightly different, such as Dustman to Bucketman, but that suggests that it's not made up and the name was just slightly different to avoid Mega Man connections or meant to represent a variation) so I'm guessing these are not pulled from nowhere. I mainly got them from here... [http://honndana.sakura.ne.jp/mario/index.html] which has NEARLY 100% accuracy on almost everything, and I double checked as much as possible to make sure I got them right. Their names for SML2 (and Wario Land I believe) were accurate, so I am going to go on a limb and suggest these are too. I would love to find a guide but haven't had much luck so far, so this is the best I can do, I'm afraid. Usually if an enemy is not named it isn't even listed on that site, so I doubt they pulled the names from thin air. If you want to double check what I've done, do an Advanced Google search and put that site address in and search for the words "ドンキーコングGB". If anyone can find any other sources that would be great, I have seen them mentioned on other sites but not many.
:I think they originated from a guide, rather than the Japanese manual, as the 3DS VC JP manual (which you can find on Nintendo's Japanese site) lists the same five enemies as the English one.
:My educated guess is that these are indeed official, but their spellings may be slightly off as it seems they are not well known even on Japanese sites. I know this isn't ideal and it is slightly sketchy, but it's better than just calling them "octopus" and "monkey" and so on. It can always be improved in future. On that note, I've just found out that Monkikki is the exact same enemy as Monchee from Mario Vs. DK, so I'll merge those together. Sir Shovalot is definitely the same, too.
